cut-through switching

Atypeofswitching used on a Token Ring network in which data is forwarded as soon as the first 20 or 30 bytes in a data frame have been read.
After the header information has been read, the connection is established between input and output ports, and the transmission begins immediately. Sometimes known as onthe-fly switching.
